JOHN BLAVO founded Blavo firm in 1997. He specialises in Sports Law, Employment Law, Criminal Litigation, Mental Health Law and NHS Law. He is a member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal, a former Mental Health Commissioner. He also sits as a legal member of various Homicides Inquiries and lectured extensively on Human Rights Law and Mental Health Law.
He holds a Master of Laws Degree in Law and Employment Relations. He has also acted for a number of well known Sports personalities and organisations including small to medium size business. His experience and commitment to the Law is immense, having dedicated most of his career in either defending the rights of individuals or helping to advise business or organisations.
John is a registered lawyer with the FA (Football Association) and is a double award winning lawyer of both GPA and GUBA. He has also previously been shortlisted, and a finalist, in LEGAL AID 2012 and shortlisted for the honours list OBE in 2010.
The firm has recently received increasing attention for its expertise in areas of Sports Law through John’s frequent media appearances. This includes not only a regular column in the Independent, features in Vox Africa & European Championship magazine but also various live guest show appearances on Sports Café, BBC radio, Talksport & CNN. Despite this increasing notoriety in the Sports field, John has remained in touch with his roots by using his profile to raise considerable money for BASCO Orphanage in his homeland of Ghana. Also, as the director of largest Mental Health Law practice in the UK, he has chosen to also work closely with mental health charity MIND in Enfield and finally, Great Ormond Street Hospital. The 15th Annual Blavo & Co ball this winter, fundraised over £16,000 which was split equally between the three charities.
