Blavo & Co Solicitors in £5,500 donation to Orphanage

On January 18th 2012, Blavo & Co were extremely happy to present a sum of money of £5,500 to a cause greatly supported by us, The BASCO orphanage in Ghana.
The donation sum, half of which was raised by clients and workers here at Blavo & Co with the other half by the firm itself as part of an annual ritual offered as a token and contribution to helping the poor, deprived and forgotten groups in the society.

The Baptist School and Orphanage Compound (BASCO) is located in Trotor, Ghana, a small village about 70 miles inland from Accra (Ghana’s capital on the West African coast). It sits on a nine-acre parcel of land between the cities Koforidua and Suhum.

Established by Pastor Victor Ofori-Amoah in 1999 with four children who were abandoned after their parents were killed in a road accident, BASCO is an independent nondenominational, faith-based organization which welcomes children of all backgrounds.

Although it started as only a few mud huts, thanks to the generosity of local and international supporters, BASCO houses and feeds more than 80 orphans, educates over 200 children, and has a staff of 21 teaching and non-teaching staff. The compound now consists of a girls and boys dormitory, four rooms for teachers quarters, girls and boys washrooms, dining hall, auditorium, administrative office, classrooms, a computer lab, and library. A medical clinic and kitchen are now in the process of being built. The school covers grades kindergarten through junior high school.

It is the mission of the Body of Christ Baptist Cathedral, which gave birth to the Baptist School and Orphanage Complex (BASCO), a Non-Governmental organisation located in Trotor, Ghana (Eastern Region – Suhum/Kraboa Coaltar District) to provide a safe and adequate home for orphaned, abandoned, abused, children and the vulnerable: to facilitate the fulfillment of their spiritual, physical, educational and emotional needs; to lead them to Christ Jesus and His salvation; to help prepare them to become independent and contributory in God’s work and in society at large.
